October 20, 2020: The Writer's Journey : An Evening with Ellen LaCorte (Rescheduled!)

What are the steps, pitfalls, and delights on the road to publication? Ellen LaCorte can tell you all about it. For nearly 30 years, Ellen worked as the head of Human Resources in the world of academia, most recently at Villanova University. While working full time, she also performed in community theater musicals and as a commercial actor. Realizing she was never happier than when she was doing something in the arts, Ellen felt a strong need to change her career path and began writing.
The result was The Perfect Fraud, Ellen's debut novel published by HarperCollins in June of 2019. It's a domestic suspense novel about a psychic who fears she doesn't have the skills she's peddling until she meets a mother with a very sick child. That's when their worlds collide and they must learn critical truths about themselves and each other -- but it's a little girl's life that hangs in the balance.
Come on out to hear Ellen's story. She'll be touching on topics near and dear to everyone treading this familiar path, including:

Once more, a friendly reminder: It is a new year, so once again it's time to pony up and pay your dues. The rate for 2016 remains unchanged at $30 for the year and, since the BVWG is registered as a 503(c) organization, your hard-earned contribution is tax-deductible. For that fee you get to post your picture and a link to your blog or website on the bvwg.org members page. You can also have your work read and reviewed when we have our BVWG critique nights in April and November. You get to enjoy the stout-hearted feeling of noblesse oblige that arises from the knowledge that your dues have helped to put a fine pub meal (perhaps the first in days) into the stomachs of our guest speakers. Finally, and perhaps most rewardingly, you also get to say -- without experiencing the shame you've felt in the past when you've prevaricated about such matters -- that you are a dues-paid member of the Brandywine Valley Writers Group. And that, as they say in the Mastercard ads, is priceless.
Checks can be made out to the Brandywine Valley Writers Group. Jorgen Flood will be standing by to accept them throughout the evening.
